The role of a Restaurant and Hotel Photographer
As a hotel photographer it is imperative to be aware that hotels, resorts and restaurants are going through a great deal of effort and resources to provide an outstanding experience for those who choose to visit and stay. The guests’ experience is a multifaceted one. It foremost filters down to emotional experiences and feelings. How does it feel to stay at a particular hotel brand after a long and tiring day of travel? Or the feelings associated with spending an evening with a special person and eat at a particular restaurant? The hospitality industry seeks to create pleasant and unforgettable experiences. It thrives and is driven by excellence. A hotel photographer must be able to say and convey the same with his or her photos. My responsibility as a restaurant and hotel photographer is to visually convey all the elements painstakingly conceptualized and put into place by the hospitality management. There are the aesthetics envisioned by the architects and interior designers responsible for creating a welcoming, warm and comforting reception upon entry. There is the Chef and his or her team putting their hearts and souls into providing a satisfying and memorable culinary experience. Then there is the operational staff whose sole role is to make guests experiences as smooth and comfortable as possible. The seamless functioning of these make a guest come back. The most precious compliment to any enterprise in the hospitality industry, whether a hotel, resort, restaurant or bar. A powerful photograph conveys the convergence of all those elements in a split second.
